10Y EDEN by Maghalie Dooms

Ten years after the launch of Eden, a creation by designer Maghalie Dooms, we revisit the design with a contemporary view.

Year 2025

In 2012, designer, stylist, and consultant Maghalie Dooms graduated from LUCA School of Arts. In 2014, she designed the now-iconic Eden bed. Ten years later, we asked her to revisit it with a contemporary view. We received not one, but two divine interpretations of the beloved model: Daybreak and Nightfall.

Birth of an Icon

The original Eden—cloud white with old pink accents—was developed specifically for the Design Biennale in Kortrijk. 'It was special to be chosen based on my work ‘(im)perfection.’ I found that Magnitude and I shared the same vision on design, quality, and personal attention. The brand focuses on craftsmanship, deep respect for tradition, exclusivity, and Belgian identity. A wonderful opportunity to push my design boundaries.'

EDEN gave me goosebumps

Maghalie poured her heart and soul into the design, and it paid off. 'I was incredibly touched by people's reactions when they first visited the stand. The bed evoked so much emotion that I got goosebumps.' The Eden effect persisted.

We wanted to celebrate that appropriately after ten years. With Maghalie, of course. 'An honor once again, but also a challenge. How could I give a new twist to the original without affecting its identity? For me, the Eden bed has a timeless aesthetic, so I didn't change anything about the basic design.'

For me, Eden has a timeless aesthetic; I didn't want to change anything about her uniqueness.

Contemporary interpretations

"I did, however, go for two surprising looks in contemporary colors and sustainable materials—with linen being a constant. I drew inspiration from my mental image archive, the collective consciousness, and the zeitgeist. The light version, Daybreak, consists of beige tones that subtly blend into each other and create a sense of calm and quiet elegance."

Bed filled with aesthetics

The dark counterpart, Nightfall, is tonal, expressive, and warm. The caviar-colored linen is combined with refined fabrics for the cushions, creating a rich and sophisticated look. "Both versions align with the current aesthetic trend of understated luxury and subtle balance. The linen only becomes more beautiful with age."
